A very crowded Eurovision preselection!

More than 250 songs have entered in the competition for designating Romania’s representative in Eurovision 2007 Song Contest. This figure represents an absolute record of participation!
The deadline for entering songs in the national stage of Eurovision Song Contest 2007 was Monday, January 15th, at 8.00 PM.
The record of entries until now was of 160 songs, registered in 2004.
After last year’s success of Finnish band Lordi, Romanian composers have “summoned up courage†concerning the style of songs entered in the contest. “It seems to be a participation from all the ways of musical areas – rock, pop, dance, latinoâ€, Dan Manoliu also declares.
The 24 songs that are going to enter the semifinals of the national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2007 were chosen by the jury that rejoined for the preselection stage, at TVR headquarters, on Wednesday, January 17th.
After deliberating for more than 8 hours, the members of the five juries – press journalists, radio journalists, composers, representatives of records companies and TVR professionals – decided the songs to enter the semifinals.
The list of participants in the 2007 Eurovision semifinals will be the following:

Both semifinals and the finals are expected to be spectacular and the presenters will be accordingly: all the three evenings will be hosted by Viorel, Mihai and Laurenţiu, who make up the band 3 Sud-Est!
This year as well, TVR will dedicate two days to the semifinals (January 27th and February 3rd, 2007), with 12 songs participating each semifinal. The best six songs of each semifinal, as chosen by a speciality jury, but also by viewers’ voting, will enter the final stage. The televoting share is of 50%, while that of the jury voting is also of 50 %.
The great final, where the twelve songs will participate, will take place on February 10th, 2007. The Eurovision winner will be also decided by televoting (50%) and by jury (50%).
