Romania takes fourth place in Eurovision contest. Lordi’s Hard Rock Hallelujah beat Tornero
Topic: Entertainment (May 23, 2006)
Romanian singer Mihai Traistariu took the fourth place in the Eurovision music contest with his high-octane song Tornero on Saturday. Seen as a favorite before the start of the event, he brought home the best ever points received by Romania in the European competition won by Finnish heavy metal band Lordi.
“I’m pleased with the result! I believe in Tornero and now I’m more certain than ever that it will be successful anywhere in Europe”, Traistariu said following his participation in the contest.
He said he already established gigs in Greece and Sweden this summer and pointed that he managed to receive points from countries that have never voted for Romania’s representatives in the Eurovision competition. With the 172 points he received, Romania is in the next year’s Eurovision finals automatically.
Mihai Traistariu and five dancers of the Big Bounce group put on a show signed by CRBL, the choreographer of a Romanian street-dance, break-dance band.
Devilish heavy metal band Lordi, the revelation-shock of the Saturday event, as well as Russia and Bosnia-Herzegovina placed better than Romania’s Traistariu, all with more than 200 points. The top ten also includes Sweden, Lithuania, Ukraine, Armenia, Greece and Ireland.

first of all,i have to say that i am very dissapointed with the position that tornero and mihai took at the latest e.s.c…IT DEFINITELLY DOes NOT REPRESENT THE SONG.AND, i have a proof for you ,showing that the positions of the songs where not fair at all:after the esc 2006,i have never heard again the finland’s song(on the radio) or anything about these stupid lordis, except(of course)the awful and discasting look they had-but even these comments stopped after a few days from the finals-ha!).BUT,BUT,BUT all i hear these days on the radio,on the beach bars or even when i drink my coffe at starbacks(!) is TORNERO!!!!so,guys, let’s face it.although the monsters won the competition,no one will remember them until they appear as UFOs on stage, trying to impress us for one more time…oh,c’me on,eurovision is a SOOONG contest, only the song, the voice and the quality matters.tornero is a real summer hit,and thats why it is going to live for ever.MIHAI,THANK YOU FOR GIVING US SUCH A lovely SONG!!!!!WE LOVE YA!!!!

Mihai, don’t mind the voting of Eurovision 2006, you are the winner! You’re song is a hit over here! He did not give you many votes in the competition but Tornero is the only eurovision song played on the radios! You’re voice is incredeble, fantastik, outstanding, just name it. I don’t have a word.. You’re breathtaking. You’re really blessed with such amezing talent and good looks. You’re beautiful and I love you. Love from Iceland, Linda.

Mihai, you had absolutely the best song in the Eurovision 2006. Though I’m from Finland and should be proud of Lordi, but… His win was based on the show, not based on the song. Your voice is absolutely incredible! Thanks for the awesome song Tornero, I have it as a ringing tone in my mobile!! Greetings from Finland!
