FIA GT Championship and more: Bucharest Ring

Topic: Auto, Sport (May 9, 2007)

In 2007 one of the FIA GT Championship stages is scheduled to take place in Bucharest. The Bucharest Ring street circuit is placed exactly in the heart of the Romanian capital, around the Parliament House.

The track in the street where the FIA GT, the European FIA GT3 Championship, the GB Formula 3 and the Logan Cup races will take place counts 3180 metres length, the average speed will be 148,6 km/h for the competitors from FIA GT Championship, the time per lap around 1 minute and 15 seconds. The top speed for the FIA GT Championship competitors is 230 km/h.

The location is perfect for organizing a street race, similar to the one in Monte Carlo, which can become a refference point in the international automobilistic calendars.

Thanks to the very wide boulevards and the numerous parkings in the area, tribunes with a capacity of aproximately 95.000 places can be set up (including 6.000 places in the VIP area for the sponsors of the event and their guests).

The paddock will be placed in the Constitution Square and Unirii Boulevard on a total surface of aproximately 40.000 mp, being surrounded by some of the most important buildings in the capital. The street circuit in the center of Bucharest is one of the few of this type in Europe and has the following route: the streets in the est part of the House of Parliament, The Libertatii Boulevard (which will be the start-finish line), then they will turn right on the 13th September Way, the Uranus and Izvor streets will be crossed, they will come down on the United Nations Boulevard till the crossroad with B.P. Hasdeu Boulevard and then tey will drive near the Izvor Park till the crossroad with Libertatii Boulevard. Vodafone is naming and main sponsor of the Bucharest Ring.
